The core NFSMI FUNDamentals and MyFUNDamentals products are installed with and configured to utilize a Microsoft Access database. While Access can certainly meet the needs of most FUNDamentals installations, there are situations where a more robust database environment is required. These scenarios include:
NFSMI FUNDamentals and MyFUNDamentals may be configured to use Microsoft SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008, or 2012 (including MSDE/SQL Express editions) for much improved application performance for larger districts where the sheer number of records becomes a stumbling block for Access. It is highly probable that your district already has a managed SQL Server for your foodservice operation. An added benefit in this case is that the database can be maintained (including backups) by your Information Technology department. Visual Solutions can provide a database Upsizing utility, or perform the upsizing as a service to any district that wishes to upgrade to a SQL Server database environment. This service or utility requires a current yearly support contract.
